VyprVPN Review - Are They Legit?

how's it goin my name is James and I'm back with another Vienna view this time we'll be taking a look at VIPRE VPNs paid premium service and this video is gonna be fairly comprehensive we'll be taking you through choosing a paid subscription downloading and installing the VPN on your desktop or mobile device and finally reviewing VIPRE VPN and giving you our impressions on the service so as usual I hope you find this video useful with the wealth of VPNs out there it can be

challenging to figure out exactly which one deserves your money VIPRE VPN makes a splash in the VPN meta with its proprietary high performance protocol they call it a chameleon and it's backed by its companies for your stance as an advocate for online privacy so just a little background for you about the company VIPRE VPN is created by Switzerland based company golden frog and they pretty much produced VIPRE VPN as a direct response to the infamous room 641a scandal of 2006 and if you're unfamiliar with the scandal it pretty much involved the NSA spying and collecting data

on the public using AT&T s network so with that said golden frogs mission to preserve an open and secure Internet experience is reflected in its base of operations which is in Switzerland a country known for having exceptional jurisdiction for privacy and data protection all VIPRE VPNs customers and their data are thusly protected by Switzerland's privacy laws so talk about reassuring VIPRE VPN claims no logs they have more than 70 global server locations and lightning-fast speeds so that said let's move on to pricing wiper VPN offers either a monthly or yearly subscription plan with the option of choosing their standard or premium service their monthly standard plan goes at 995 a month with allowance for three connected devices while their monthly premium service goes at 1295 a month with allowance for five devices and features their unique chameleon protocol that I mentioned earlier as well as the option to create your own dedicated cloud VPN server their annual plans offer the same standard premium options as their monthly plans with the only difference being the savings you get upon subscribing so for instance at the me shooting this video VIPRE VPN offers 25% off of your first year of subscription making it about $45 for the standard $60 for the premium this goes to 60 and 80 dollars a year for standard and premium respectively afterwards and they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee which is always really nice for those of you who just want to try out the VPN so for the purpose of this video I myself chose the monthly premium version I don't typically have the need to connect a ton of devices to my VPN service but I mainly chose the

premium plan for the chameleon protocol unfortunately the standard version doesn't come with this protocol which I feel like it's kind of a bummer because this is one of vipre VPN strongest features at least one of their most unique features so with that said once you choose your plan you'll then create a golden frog account and enter your payment details use standard credit cards PayPal as well as UnionPay they're all accepted upon entering your payment info and confirming your then taken to a confirmation page that tells you to check out your email and then from that email you'll receive a confirmation code and link to proceed to your account portal and then you'll be able to download the VIPRE VPN from there the client is available on Windows Mac iOS Android with router and TV support as well and in my experience installing the client for desktop and mobile was a breeze on the window insulation one thing to note though is that if you don't already have a tap v9 network adapter it will ask you to install it this is pretty much just an interface that provides the functionality needed by various VPN clients to create an actual VPN connection on the other hand installing VIPRE VPN on iOS is simply a matter of hopping on to the App Store searching up the VIPRE VPN app and then giving it a download so now that we have the VIPRE VPN app installed on our desktop or mobile device or both we're going to be taking a closer look at the app and its user interface and right off

about one of my favorite things about vipre VPN is that the UI's are almost exactly alike on either platform I'm personally using Windows and iOS and it's just super nice to have an app that's consistent on both platforms that way if you end up taking advantage of the service on you know Windows Mac or iOS what-have-you which I assume people will you don't have to learn a completely different app and it just makes getting a VPN connection that much easier either way so the only difference between the desktop and the mobile apps though is the amount of customization features which we'll get into shortly so after logging into the VPN you'll see the home screen and in my opinion the UI as a whole is one of the most simple and well-organized UI is out there the homework connection screen features a drop-down menu to select your server locations a connect button and two other menus to navigate to servers and customize and again this is the same exact for mobile clicking on the drop down menu or the servers icon in the bottom right hand corner will take you to the servers menu which displays all the server locations as well as their ping like most VPNs you can drop a location to start a favorite it it pushes it to the top of the list as well as search for servers by name navigating over to the customize button will then bring you to the customization

screen where all the options are neatly laid out each customizable option has a respective submenu that will let you tweak VIPRE VPN to your specification I will say this is where the iOS version drops off because there are only two options here and that's the ability to enable or disable public Wi-Fi protection and auto reconnect the desktop version on the other hand gives you a little more to work with the after mention public Wi-Fi protection and auto connect obviously make an appearance in this menu but you also have options like the kill switch functionality protocol and DNS customization amongst other options one section I really wanted to touch on is the protocol menu because this is where you're able to flip on VIPRE VPNs unique chameleon 256 bit encryption as we mentioned it uses an unmodified version of the Open VPN 256 protocol and it scrambles a metadata to bypass a lot of restrictive online censorship on top of this you also have the option to connect via more common protocols like Open VPN and l2tp aside from this you can customize which domain name servers by Pro VPN uses I personally wouldn't change this up unless you have a specific need to use a third-party DNS mostly because golden frog owns and manages all of their own VPN servers which definitely adds to your data and privacy so speaking of security we're gonna now pivot into our security tests as mentioned before privacy and security seem to be the central guiding mission statement behind Goldman frog's VPN service and it doesn't disappoint in this regard because VIPRE VPN held up well in our basic security tests this includes IP WebRTC and DNS leak test s-- these tests were conducted on IP leak net as well as DNS leak test comm for redundant DNS testing unlike other VPNs we've tested so far one of the more interesting factors to come up in our testing is the presence of various DNS servers located throughout the United States that appear even whilst connected to a worldwide server like Argentina for instance in previous cases IP leak net would typically yield only one DNS address whilst connected to a different VPN service but in VIPRE

VPNs case two or three would show up and I'm not entirely sure if this is the chameleon protocol at work but either way I tested servers located worldwide and in the US and there wasn't any instance of my actual public IP address leaking this was further reinforced by the tests I ran on DNS leak test again showing no positive results from my public IP another security feature we mentioned earlier is the fact that VIPRE VPN really enforces their know log policy this is to the point where they've commissioned a public third party audits to verify and assess their law claims November 2018 Leviathan security conducted an audit on the company and golden frog freely a release of results to

the public the PDF is actually accessible on their websites other VPNs like Nord and Express have also recently gone a similar lengths to solidify their no log claims but especially in VIPRE VPN in golden products case it's indefinite Alliant with their stance towards data protection so all in all VIPRE VPN definitely passes our basic security tests and as we mentioned with golden frogs strong advocacy for user privacy and their deliberate presence in a data protection friendly country like Switzerland wire VPN is hands-down one of the most secure VPNs we've tested so far so next up we'll be testing 500 ppm speed and like I mentioned before it's difficult to get an exact measurement of a VPNs true speed just because of how volatile in nature they can be with elements like time of day server load and your own personal connection factoring into the testing speeds with that said my benchmark for this VPN test was 10 ping 80 6.76 megabytes download and 13 point 56 megabytes upload speed probably the most flattering speeds my connection has shown as of yet during these videos as usual I tested the VPN inner-force servers located in the United States including Seattle Miami San Francisco and Houston unsurprisingly San Francisco being the closest to my actual location in Los Angeles performed the best with 22 ping 40 3.84 Meg download and ten point nine Meg upload Miami was predictably the slowest being on the opposite coast with 81 ping 34 point 66 down and six point twenty five upload speed altogether the forced servers averaged 54 ping 30 point ninety four down and 8.03 upload speed that is a 440 % ping decrease 64 point 34% download decrease in a 53 point ninety one percent upload decrease compared to my benchmark worldwide I

tested servers located in Argentina Italy Japan and the maldives together these servers averaged 198 ping 33 point 53 down and 4.3 upload speeds roughly according to a 1880 % paint decrease 61 point 35 percent decrease in download speed and 68 point 29 percent decrease in upload speed Firebird VPN does claim lightning-fast speeds and while our tests never yielded anything that resembled lightning-fast VIPRE VPN tested respectively coming out ahead of VPNs like ipvanish and so to wrap things up what are our impressions VIPRE VPN after looking at everything from the onboarding process to features and UI to security and speed tests I'd say while it's on the pricier side VIPRE VPN is definitely a respectable VPN that stresses privacy in most case you'd want to reach for the premium plan because of the extra security afforded by the VPNs chameleon protocol which would run you about $13.50 a nice range offering excellent security as well as seemingly faster

speeds it can be a tough sell that said however if you're looking for a solid VPN with a unique and secure protocol all backed by a company that truly stands behind customer privacy definitely give VIPRE VPN the go I hope you found this review useful and if you enjoyed it it'd be greatly appreciated if you could drop the video a thumbs up let us know in the comment section down below what other VPNs you'd like us to take a closer look at next and if you haven't done so already be sure to subscribe again I'm James and I will catch you on the next o
